Caracal Models sheet CD72029 provides 12 options for F-35A and B models, including US Marine Corps, US Air Force, Royal Netherlands Air Force, Royal Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force. Four USAF airframes are included:-
- F-35A 10-5011 "OT" from the 422nd TES based at Nellis AFB during 2015;
- F-35A 11-5023 "EG" from the 58th FS based at Nellis AFB during 2015;
- F-35A 12-5050 "LF" from the 61st FS based at Luke AFB during 2014;
- F-35A 12-5049 "WA" from the 16th WPS based at Nellis AFB during 2015.
All aircraft were painted overall FS36170 ("Camouflage Grey") with lighter grey radome and panels. Caracal recommend Humbrol 224 as the closest match, although Akah have release what could be another alternative.
Instructions comprise a side view for each airframe with additional "scrap" views where needed, Upper and lower views show markings for each country where these differ, and separate left and right side views provide stencilling information.
The decal sheet is printed by Cartograf and provides stencilling for two aircraft.
Whilst the F-35 is neither particularly colourful nor brightly marked, the subjects provided cover the spectrum of units operating the aircraft up to mid-2015.
