Since there's been no hate mail following my extracts from the US Air Force Yearbook, here's some more, this time taken from the 1999 Yearbook and relating to 1998:-
- The first C-32A made its maiden flight, intended to replace C-137's serving with the 89th AW at Andrews AFB, Maryland
- The SR-71 was retired for the second (and final) time
- Air Force reserve Command (AFRC) celebrated its 50th anniversary
- The last EF-111A Raven was retired from the 429th ECS at Cannon AFB, New Mexico
- Flight testing of the F-22 Raptor began at Edwards Air Force Base
- The final LGM-30G Minuteman III was removed from its silo at Grand Forks AFB
- The first Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) was delivered to the USAF by Boeing
- The first AGM-154A Joint Stand Off Weapon (JSOW) was delivered to the USAF by Raytheon
- The first production T-6A Texan II made its initial flight
