Here’s the Matchbox kit (OOP) of the de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter in 1/72 scale. Three UV-18B “Twotters” are assigned to the 98th Flying Training Squadron (98 FTS), 306th Flying Training Group, Air Education and Training Command at the Air Force Academy and used for cadet parachute training, demonstrations and competitions.
The aircraft modeled is 77-0465, which also carries a civil registration of N70465. I built the kit out of the box and painted it Tamiya rattle can Pure White and French Blue in one of the earlier schemes used by the AFA. To be more accurate, I should have opened the aft cargo doors on the port side as the aircraft generally flies with the doors removed and a roll-up, roll-down jump door in their place. Also should have feathered the props. Maybe on the next one. Decals were from the spares box.
