Decal Sheet Title Air National Guard P/F-51D's
Types Featured F-51D

Caracal Models sheet CD72054 provides markings for five different F-51Ds from various Air National Guard units. The airframes featured are:

  • F-51D 44-63803 from the Kentucky ANG. The entire nose and spinner, rear fuselage and wingtips were painted Chrome Yellow (FS13538) with a yellow lightning bolt on the fuselage. It carried “KY ANG” in black on the rear fuselage, black “03” on the nose and “ANG 463803” on the fin. The antiglare plane and canopy framing were all black. “ANG-803” was painted on the upper starboard and lower port wings;
  • F-51D 45-11585 from the 111th FIS, Texas ANG. This has the Texas star on the nose below a black painted panel, a red nose and spinner and an olive drab anti-glare panel and windshield. “TEX ANG” was carried on the rear fuselage, with “NG 511585” on the fin;
  • F-51D 44-72973 from the 187th FIS, Wyoming ANG. This had a yellow spinner and wingtips and a yellow flash on the rear fuselage. The most striking feature was the tail and fillet, which was fully painted with black and yellow chequers. The squadron badge was on both sides of the fuselage below the canopy and “WY.O ANG” was on the fuselage with “ANG 472973” on the fin. This aircraft carried an olive drab anti-glare panel. “ANG-973” was painted on the upper starboard and lower port wings;
  • F-51D 44-84390 from the 148th FIS, Pennsylvania ANG. It had an olive drab anti-glare panel. The 148th FIS badge was on the port side of the fuselage, with “PA ANG” on the rear fuselage and “ANG 484390” on the fin, with a white fin tip. “ANG-390” was painted on the upper starboard and lower port wings;
  • F-51D 44-72337 from the 155th FIS, Tennessee ANG. Another aircraft with an olive drab anti-glare panel, yellow wingtips, tail-plane tips, landing gear doors and fin tip. The spinner and forward nose were painted yellow / red / yellow / red and it carried a stylised red flash on the forward fuselage. Two diagonal red stripes were on the rear fuselage. “TENN ANG” was in black on the rear fuselage, with “ANG 472337” on the fin. “ANG-337” was painted on the upper starboard and lower port wings.

Caracal have selected some highly colourful schemes! The decals are printed by Microscale, and the instructions provide left and right side views of each aircraft together with upper and lower schemes.
