Thunderbox Decals sheet 72-002 provides markings for two C-47As from USAFE units. The aircraft featured are:

  • C-47A 0-2100710 from the 66th TFW HQ based at Sembach AB, Germany during 1956. This was natural metal overall with a red/yellow/blue/green fin flash and fuselage lightning flash;
  • C-47A 0-2643 from the 21st FBW at Chamblay AB during 1957. This was natural metal with the upper fuselage in gloss white, separated by a blue cheatline. It carried a red/yellow/blue fin with white stars and the 21st FBW emblem on the fuselage behind the cockpit.

Instructions comprise a side view of each aircraft together with upper and lower views. Thunderbox sheets are printed using an Alps printer and include white, but the colours would benefit from a white undercoat.

There are very few markings provided for C-47s so this sheet is recommended if you can find a copy!
