TigerHead Decals sheet 72003 provides markings for 3 Case X F-102As, of which one is a USAF aircraft.

The aircraft in question is F-102A 56-1111 although this is not immediately clear...as there are NO instructions provided of any kind - not sure if this was an omission from my sheet or a wider issue.

The aircraft featured is from the 525th FIS, 86th AD at Bitburg AB, Germany during the early 1960s. It is overall Air Defence Command Grey (FS16473). The fin was painted white and carried two diagonal stripes (included on the sheet). Superimposed on the fin was the squadron emblem - a bulldog in a blue circle.

The blue on the sheet is suspect - it appears too bright when compared to photographs (which look a lot closer to FS35109 medium blue). Furthermore, the blue of the stars'n'bars is too light (as FS35044 Insignia Blue is almost black) and the "U.S. AIR FORCE" emblems for the fuselage are incorrect, being both the wrong colour (black when they should be Insignia Blue) and having the wrong spacing (there should not be a space between the "U.S." and "AIR".

A very limited set of stencilling is provided.

All in all, this sheet is mixed. It is useful for the tail codes and Bitburg fin badge, but pretty much everything else needs to be replaced!
