Rocketeer Decals from Japan have not produced many decals sheets, but they are always of high quality and for interesting subjects. Sheet RD72003 provides markings for all of the NASA SR-71's as follows:-
- NASA 06937, with yellow fin bands containing "NASA" in black and white numbers and "U.S.AIR FORCE" on the mid fuselage, together with light stars'n'bars, as flown between 1971 and 1978;
- NASA 832, with white fin bands containing "NASA" in red and white tail markings. This aircraft was used for NASA hypersonic experiments between 1991 and 1992;
- NASA 841, marked similarly to 832 but with different-style "NASA" logos and used from 1993 onwards;
- NASA 844, marked identically to 841 and used for the Linear Aerospike (LASRE) experiment during 1996.
A single set of stencils are provided, and Rocketeer also provide the tail bands and markings separate as well as superimposed.
All aircraft are overall matt black.
Instructions are in full color and comprise side views of each aircraft and a set of upper and lower diagrams showing stencil placement. Walkway markings are not provided and will need to be sourced from the kit.
