Types Featured RF-101C

Caracal Models sheet CD72047 "RF-101C" provides markings for seven different RF-101Cs and is designed for the Valom kit. The aircraft featured are:-

  • RF-101C 56-042 15 TRS, Kadena AB, 1960. Overall natural metal with Insignia Blue "U.S. AIR FORCE" on the nose and black "FB-042" buzz numbers on the lower fuselage. The squadron carried a large black and yellow chequered fin with a red lightning bolt;
  • RF-101C 56-186 20 TRS, Shaw AFB, 1960. Overall natural metal with Insignia Blue and black "FB-186" buzz numbers. This aircraft carried a large black/white/red flash on the fin and rudder, a red intake stripe and multiple yellow fands on the forward fuselage.
  • RF-101C 56-081 45 TRS, Misawa AB, 1960. Overall natural metal with Insignia Blue and black "FB-081" buzz numbers. Blue fin with white polka dots and a blue band on the nose with poka dots, plus a red intake stripe.
  • RF-101C 56-206 32 TRS, Laon AB, 1961.  Overall natural metal with Insignia Blue and black "FB-206" buzz numbers. Yellow fin flash containing four white stars. 
  • RF-101C 56-053 29 TRS, Shaw AFB.  Four tone South East Asia scheme, comprising FS34079, FS34102 and FS30219 upper surfaces with FS 36622 lower surfaces. This aircraft carried white "JO" tailcodes, black "AF 56" and white "053" tail numbers. It had a yellow fin tip with a black logo.
  • RF-101C 56-123 154 TRS, Arkansas ANG. Four tone South East Asia scheme, comprising FS34079, FS34102 and FS30219 upper surfaces with FS 36622 lower surfaces. Markings were limited to white serial numbers on the tail, the ANG crest and small white "ARK" lettering.
  • RF-101C 56-061 45 TRS, Tan Son Nhut AB, Vietnam, 1969. Four tone South East Asia scheme, comprising FS34079, FS34102 and FS30219 upper surfaces with FS 36622 lower surfaces. Markings comprise white "AH" tailcodes, and black "AF 56" and white "061" tail numbers.

The sheet follows Caracal's usual style, with left and right side views of each aircraft together with upper and lower drawings where needed. The sheet is printed by Cartograf in perfect register. 

As always, a highly recommended sheet and a great way to add color to the Valom kit!
