Caracal Models sheet CD72048 provides markings for five different F-106As.

The aircraft featured are:

  • F-106A-125-CO 59-0095 87th FIS, K.I. Sawyer AFB, 1984. Overall ADC Grey (FS16473) with black radome and anti-glare panel. Stylised bull in red on the fin and a bull’s head on the lower nose.
  • F-106A-120-CO 59-0085 48th FIS, Langley AFB. Overall ADC Grey (FS16473) with black radome and anti-glare panel. White chevron on fin, outlined in medium blue and white/blue striped rudder.
  • F-106A-110-CO 59-0057 318th FIS, McChord AFB. Overall ADC Grey (FS16473) with black radome and anti-glare panel. Eight-pointed star on fin with longer front point, all painted light/dark blue with the squadron insignie in the middle. Wing fuel tanks carried a light blue/dark blue chevron.
  • F-106A-120-CO 59-0083 49th FIS, Griffiss AFB. Overall ADC Grey (FS16473) with black radome and anti-glare panel. Stylised eagle on the fin and rudder in green, yellow and white, and a yellow lightning bolt on the outer fuel tanks.
  • F-106A 56-467 AFFTC, Edwards AFB, 1959. Overall ADC Grey (FS16473) with the entire forward fuselage, wide fin band and outer wings painted Dayglo Orange (FS28915). A large Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) was carried on the fin.

As usual with Caracal, the decals are printed by Cartograf in perfect register, with enough stencilling provided for a single model. Instructions comprise a side view of each aircraft, together with upper and lower views to show markings.

This is another useful sheet for the F-106 and should work equally well on the Hasegawa, Meng or Trumpeter kits.
