Decal Sheet Title A-10 Thunderbolt II Desert Storm

Print Scale sheet 72-347 provides markings for 11 A-10As operated during Operation Desert Storm. The following airframes are featured:

  • A-10A 80-0208 "AR" "Annabelle II" from the 511th TFS, 10th TFW "Vultures" based at RAF Alconbury but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudi Arabia. This aircraft carried no colored fin tip or fin band and carried artwork on the starboard nose;
  • A-10A 81-0947 "AR" "Desert Belle" from the 511th TFS, 10th TFW "Vultures" based at RAF Alconbury but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudi Arabia. The decals depict this aircraft wth a simple black "AR" tailcode and no colored fin tip or tail band, but it did later carry a black tailband outlined in white and containing "Vultures" also in white. It carried artwork on the starboard size of the nose;
  • A-10A 80-0157 "AR" "Fightin' Irish" from the 511th TFS, 10th TFW "Vultures" based at RAF Alconbury but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudi Arabia. This aircraft is depicted with white "Vultures" script on a black tailband outlined in white and artwork on the starboard side of the nose;
  • A-10A79-0220 "AR" "Yankee Express" from the 511th TFS, 10th TFW "Vultures" based at RAF Alconbury but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudi Arabia. This carried no coloured fin tip or tail band and artwork on the starboard side of the nose;
  • A-10A 77-0255 "NO" "Camel Jockey" from the 706th TFS, 926th TFG "Cajuns", AFRES from NAS New Orleans but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudia Arabia. This carried a red fin tip and nose art on the starboard size of the nose;
  • A-10A 77-0205 "NO" "Chopper Popper" from the 706th TFS, 926th TFG "Cajuns", AFRES from NAS New Orleans but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudia Arabia. This carried artwork on the port side of the nose and on the starboard nose gear door, together with a red fin tip outlined in white;
  • A-10A 76-0544 "NO" "Desert Storm Heroes" from the 706th TFS, 926th TFG "Cajuns", AFRES from NAS New Orleans but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudia Arabia. This was one of the most colourful aircraft, with a red fin tip outlined in white together with red leading and trailing edges to the engine nacelles. Artwork was carried on both sides of the nose;
  • A-10A 76-0540 "NO" "Fist/Carmelitte" from the 706th TFS, 926th TFG "Cajuns", AFRES from NAS New Orleans but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudia Arabia. This carried artwork on both sides of the nose and red fin tips;
  • A-10A 77-0240 "NO" "Randi/Lauren/Brenda/Beth/Anna" from the 706th TFS, 926th TFG "Cajuns", AFRES from NAS New Orleans but deployed to King Fahd Airport, Saudia Arabia. This carried artwork on both sides of the nose and red fin tips;
  • A-10A 78-0677 "MB" "Kiss Of Death" from the 353rd TFS, 354th TFW "Panthers" based at Myrtle Beach AFB but deployed to King Fahd AB, Saudi Arabia. This carried artwork on both sides of the nose and red fin tips (but not the rudders);
  • A-10A 78-0681 "MB" "Playtime/Little Lady Diane" from the 353rd TFS, 354th TFW "Panthers" based at Myrtle Beach AFB but deployed to King Fahd AB, Saudi Arabia.  This carried artwork on both sides of the nose and red fin tips (but not the rudders).

Instructions are full colour and comprise a side view of each aircraft, an additional view where aircraft have additional markings, and a three-view showing stencilling.

All aircraft carried the European One ("Euro 1"). There were a number of variations to the Euro One scheme carried by the A-10 and careful review of the subject is recommended. A great reference source is "Desert Storm from Air Modeller's View" which features photographs of all the subjects on this sheet.
